Noted in Passing

March 2:  a bomb explodes on a front porch in Austin, Texas, killing one person.

March 12:  a bomb explodes in Austin, Texas, killing one person and injuring another.

March 12:  another bomb explodes in Austin, Texas, injuring one person:

March 18:  a package explodes in Austin, Texas, injuring two people.

March 20:  a package sent from Austin, Texas to an Austin, Texas address explodes at a sorting facility an hour south of Austin.

As many as 500 federal agents are reportedly investigating these crimes.  That investigation is obviously not of any interest to the President.

UPDATE:

Well, at least it's from the White House:

"Local, state and federal law enforcement working hand in hand to get to the bottom of it. This is obviously a very, very sick individual or maybe these are sick people, and we will get to the bottom of it. We will be very strong. We are searching what's going on in Austin — a great place, a tremendous place — It is absolutely disgraceful."
I'm guessing the "nexus" to terrorism will be if a suspect is identified who is non-white and has a "Middle Eastern" name.  Because planting bombs randomly and mailing them through shipping services sounds pretty much like "terrorism" to me.  I know if I was still living in Austin "terrified" would pretty much describe my feelings.

Further update:  I can now confirm a U.S. Representative from Austin was in a meeting with Trump when he had the comments quoted above.  Undoubtedly the only reason Trump said anything at all on the subject.

  1. I wonder how much coverage it's gotten on FOX.

If they thought that it was people of color who were sending the bombs instead of the suspected targets, it would be all over the news.
